The first Pot Black Family Pool and Snooker centre opened in Western Australia in 1986. There are presently three Pot Black centres in the State – (Northbridge,Cannington and North Perth) and they operate as franchises.
Since 1986, Pot Black’s objective has been to mould a new image for both pool and snooker – dispelling the traditional “smoke filled, sleazy pool hall” myth. This perception has been changed by providing attractive surroundings in clean, comfortable, air conditioned premises. Tables and equipment of the highest standard are provided in a pleasant environment where the whole family has an opportunity to play a great sport. Competition is generally kept to a social basis so that everyone, no matter what their ability, can participate.
Pot Black acknowledges its responsibility to the community to encourage and promote the sport amongst a new generation. Pot Black specifically caters for teenagers and young adults, who provide the majority of its customer base. The centres are promoted as an ideal venue for a fun night out with friends and the latest music and trendy atmosphere create a great environment to meet new friends. All Pot Black centres are licensed so that adult patrons can enjoy a drink when playing or socialising. Like most major sporting venues, our special facility liquor licences allow the whole family and unaccompanied juveniles to visit.
While social play is the main activity, Pot Black is dedicated to promoting pool and snooker as a sport and leisure activity to junior players. Over 50 schools in the Perth Metropolitan area select Pot Black as a sporting elective.
The more serious adult players are also catered for at Pot Black. Regular pool and snooker leagues are held throughout the year and Pot Black sponsors many junior and senior state snooker and billiard championships in conjunction with the Billiards and Snooker Association of WA.
